SiN Reloaded Combat Guide
Locational damage, disarms, armor pieces, ammo economy, and Reloaded's weapon buffs.
SiN Reloaded still fights like Ritual’s 1998 FPS, with a higher tick rate and gun buffs Nightdive actually shipped. Head, torso, and legs are separate armor pools. You can shoot a weapon out of a merc’s hands. Mutants do not care about your Magnum the way a guard does. The Quantum Destabilizer will kill you if you overcharge it. Rankings: weapon tier list and enemies. Kits: loadouts. The campaign is single-player. Online PvP uses the same guns with different spawn rules.
Locational damage and armor pieces
Blade wears head, torso, and leg armor as separate pickups. A helmet does not save your chest. A chest plate does not stop a shotgun to the face. Grab every shard even if the HUD “looks fine” — you might be naked from the belt down. Enemies work the same way. Headshots drop mercs that soaked a magazine in the vest. Leg shots stagger. Aim for the helmet seam on soldiers and for flesh on mutants.
Glance at the HUD after every fight. Walking into Chem with a full torso and zero helmet is how snipers humble you. The demo silo slice is a cheap place to watch shards drop before 24 September.
Disarm, loot, reload
Shoot the gun, not just the man. A Magnum or rifle round into the weapon or hands can knock the firearm away. The merc panics or goes to fists; you Use the body or the dropped gun. That is SiN’s reload loop. Use on a corpse pulls ammo into the weapon you are holding. Bind it — Controls.
Disarm is weaker on mutants and biomechs. Do not ping a claw off a U4 horror; swap to shotgun, pulse, or rockets. Against human rooms, disarm is how you keep the chaingun fed.
Mutants versus mercs
Mercs and SinTEK guards take cover, shoot back, throw grenades, and die to headshots and disarms. Magnum and assault rifle are the default. Sniper rifle owns catwalks and dam approaches. Chaingun is for when three of them share a doorway and you can afford the belt.
Mutants (U4 victims, later xenomorph-adjacent labs, Wages goliaths) rush, soak bullets, and punish strafe-in-place. Shotgun, flamethrower (Reloaded made it hit much harder), pulse lightning, and rockets are the answer. Magnum them only if you like reload animations. Area 57 and xenomorphic labs are where the kit swap has to happen or you will empty a rifle into a sponge.
Biomechs are armor. Soft guns bounce. Rockets, chaingun grenades (alt fire), and pulse plasma exist for them. Two mini-boss biomechs in classic factory maps are invincible until they start shooting — do not waste cells on a scripted wake-up.
Reloaded weapon buffs you should actually use
Nightdive did not only reskin the arsenal:
- Dual Magnums fire and load independently. Stagger the triggers. You are no longer stuck in one long Gold reload.
- Spider Mines can be steered remotely. Send them around a corner instead of hoping the AI walks onto a puck.
- Pulse Gun lightning chains between enemies. Clustered mutants are the reason you hunted parts on Secrets and Branching.
- Flamethrower deals far more damage. Close labs and mutant pits are its home.
- Speargun is more effective underwater. Take it into the pass; do not proudly drown with a rifle.
- Crossbow (Wages of SiN) has a detonator switch. Plant, break line of sight, detonate. Details on Wages of SiN.
Fists are a last resort. Shotgun is the room broom. Assault rifle is the campaign default. Chaingun grenade alt fire is the panic button and vehicle-killer. Rockets are for helicopters, biomechs, and the Thrall — not one guy in a toilet. Sniper zoom (alt fire) is a real damage multiplier.
Quantum Destabilizer: charge, do not overcharge
The Quantum Destabilizer charges. A full charge deletes a problem. An overcharge kills Blade. There is no Reloaded patch that made that cute. Panic-hold in a closet and the death screen is you, not a mutant. Save cells for the Thrall, Manero, and rooms you cannot peek. You can finish the campaign without it.
Magnum rounds are everywhere if you Use corpses. Rockets and pulse cells are not. Chaingun belts vanish if you hose a hallway. Loot every body. Do not die to a helicopter holding rockets “for later” with a full Magnum.
Vehicles and arenas
Forklift: a mover, sometimes a ram. Patrol boat and ATV: shoot from them. Helicopter turrets are aim tests — lead. Dam helicopter: chaingun or rockets while you strafe what it sends back.
Thrall: keep moving, dump expensive guns, do not overcharge the Quantum. Estate snipers: answer with the sniper rifle. Oil-rig decks: one scoped shot each, then board.
Route: Walkthrough. First hour: Getting Started. Trial guns: Demo Guide. Pulse parts while you fight: Secrets and Branching. Buff list: what’s new. Characters: characters. Always Run off in Chem: settings. Index: Guides Hub.
Headshots on mercs, fire and pulse on mutants, rockets on machines, never hold the Quantum until it screams. The rest is loot discipline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How does locational damage work?
Head, torso, and legs have separate armor and damage. A helmet will not save your chest. Headshots drop human mercs much faster than vest shots.
How do I disarm an enemy?
Shoot the weapon or hands until the gun flies free, then Use the corpse or the dropped firearm. Mutants and biomechs generally cannot be disarmed this way.
What happens if I overcharge the Quantum Destabilizer?
It kills Blade. Charge it, dump it, release. Do not panic-hold the trigger in a closet. Rank and ammo notes: weapon tier list.
How should I fight mutants versus mercs?
Mercs: Magnum, rifle, sniper, disarms. Mutants: shotgun, flamethrower, pulse lightning, rockets. Swap kits when Area 57 and the labs start, not after you empty a rifle.
Which Reloaded gun changes matter in a fight?
Independent dual Magnums, steerable Spider Mines, chaining pulse lightning, a harder flamethrower, a better underwater speargun, and a *Wages* crossbow detonator. Full list on what's new.
Where do I practice before 24 September 2026?
The Steam demo hands you dual Magnums, sniper, rockets, HV chaingun, and assault rifle in a silo-style slice. Bind Use first on Controls.
