SiN Reloaded Controls

Keyboard, mouse, gamepad, Switch 2 mouse, gyro, and the Use key that loots corpses and reloads.

Last updated:

Controls

Reloaded overhauls SiN’s input. Ritual already had mouse look; Nightdive’s KEX version adds a modern UI, full rebinding, gamepad glyphs, Switch 2 mouse, and gyro options the Steam demo already patched. Open the remapper under settings. Treat the list below as starting defaults. If a prompt disagrees, trust the prompt.

Use (commonly E, or a face button on pad) is not just “open door.” Use loots a corpse and pulls ammo into the gun you are holding. That is how you reload when reserve boxes are empty. Use also jacks DOS terminals, plants charges, mounts turrets, and enters vehicles — forklift, patrol boat, helicopter, ATV. Bind it somewhere you will actually hit.

Keyboard and mouse defaults

Expect a modern FPS layout on PC:

  • Move: WASD (arrow keys still work on many KEX ports)
  • Jump: Space
  • Crouch: C
  • Attack: Mouse 1
  • Alt fire: Mouse 2 (chaingun grenades, sniper zoom, dual-Magnum off-hand depending on the gun)
  • Use / interact: E
  • Next / previous weapon: mouse wheel
  • Weapon slots: 1–0 for fists, Magnum, shotgun, rifle, chaingun, rockets, and the rest as you find them
  • Always Run: a toggle in options, not a hold key — turn it off when Chem wants you quiet

Mouse look is first-class. Invert Y, sensitivity, and raw input live in settings. Dual Magnums fire and load independently, so do not copy a 1998 bind sheet blindly. The Quantum Destabilizer charges on attack — hold too long and it overcharges and kills Blade. That is a weapon rule. Read the Combat Guide before you bind turbo-fire to it.

Gamepad

Steam lists full controller support on the demo. Dual-stick look, a sprint toggle, and Use on a face button will get you through the bank and the silo. Turn aim assist down if you came from mouse. Put alt fire on a trigger you can hit without dropping the stick — chaingun grenades and sniper zoom are not extras.

PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, and Switch 2 use the same glyph UI. The original ~ console is a PC habit; you will not type impulse codes on a TV. Brightness and remastered-versus-Gold swaps sit in the pause UI. On PC, ~ may still open a Gold-style prompt, but Reloaded wants you in settings. Bind from the UI so the profile stores.

Switch 2 mouse and gyro

Nightdive confirmed Switch 2 mouse controls for Reloaded. Docked, that is the closest living-room equivalent to the PC mouse that SiN was designed around. Handheld, you are on analog sticks unless you attach a compatible mouse. Switch 2 docked targets 4K/120; handheld is 1080p. Neither number matters if look acceleration on the stick feels wrong — lower it before you blame the GPU.

Gyro is real on the Steam demo. Demo Update #1 fixed the non-Steam Input gyroscope path so yaw and roll are correct, un-inverted gyro turn, added missing gyro options, and reduced the gyro deadzone step. If you played the June trial on Deck or a Steam Input pad and the camera listed, re-download. Fine-tune deadzone in settings rather than fighting a huge flick. Gyro is an aiming aid, not a replacement for a stable sensitivity.

Use, loot, reload, terminals, vehicles

SiN does not play like a modern shooter with a dedicated reload button as the center of the kit. You top up by walking over ammo and by Using corpses. Empty Magnum in a doorway: Use the merc you just dropped, take his rounds, keep moving. Same key opens security doors after a terminal hack. JC will tell you when a DOS box matters; look for Reloaded’s POI / exclamation markers on keys and switches that used to vanish into furniture. That is a Secrets and Branching topic as much as a control one.

Vehicles steal the same Use key. Forklift in construction, patrol boat later, helicopter sequences, ATV stretches — mount, drive, dismount. Do not bind Use and jump to the same pad face if you can avoid it; you will hop out of a boat instead of boarding it.

What not to copy from 1998

Gold FAQs tell you to tap ~ and type cheats. Reloaded is a console-ready remaster with a modern menu. Play it with the UI. Confirm quicksave in the remapper, then still make named saves at map changes. Getting Started covers difficulty. The Demo Guide is where gyro notes meet the two-mission slice. The Walkthrough assumes you can Use a terminal under fire. Wages of SiN adds flashlight and night-vision — check the remapper again when that pack starts. Combat rules: Combat Guide. Secrets that sit on Use: Secrets and Branching.

If look feels sluggish, it is mouse accel, deadzone, or gyro invert, not the engine. Reloaded’s higher tick rate should feel snappier than Gold. SKU differences: platforms. Visuals: settings. Storefronts: Links. Index: Guides Hub.

Bind Use somewhere honest, turn Always Run off when a map wants stealth, and confirm gyro after the demo patch. Everything else is aim practice.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What does the Use key do in SiN Reloaded?

Use loots corpses and reloads from their ammo, hacks DOS terminals, opens tagged interactables, and enters vehicles. Bind it where you can hit it under fire. Details are on this page; save habits are in Getting Started.

Does Switch 2 support a mouse?

Yes. Nightdive confirmed mouse controls on Switch 2. Docked play is 4K/120; handheld is 1080p. See platforms for SKU notes.

Is gyro supported?

Yes on the Steam demo. Update #1 fixed yaw/roll, inversion, extra gyro options, and deadzone step. Re-download the demo if your camera still lists.

Can I still open the ~ console?

The original game used ~ for a command console. Reloaded is built around a modern settings UI for pads and TVs. Use settings to rebind and to swap remastered art for SiN Gold.

Where do I turn off Always Run?

In the options / settings menu. Walking matters in the chemical plant and anywhere stealth is the intended read. Always Run is a toggle, not a hold.

Do dual Magnums use a special bind?

Reloaded lets dual Magnums fire and load independently. Alt fire and attack share the usual mouse or trigger binds. Practice in the demo before the campaign.
