How to Hack Terminals in SiN Reloaded
DOS prompts, security cameras, elevators, and the hacks that rewrite a Freeport map.
SiN Reloaded still lets you sit down at a computer and type like it is 1998. That is not flavor. Terminals open doors, kill cameras, dump ATMs, and sometimes rewrite which map you play next. JC, Blade’s operator, lives in your ear and on those screens. If a locked shutter will not budge, the answer is usually a prompt, not another rocket. This page is the how-to. The beat-by-beat route is the walkthrough. Hidden caches and fail-forward timers sit on secrets.
The campaign is single-player. Online PvP on the multiplayer page does not use these terminals. The Steam demo can show a security hub in the silo slice; it is not a full tutorial. Read the demo guide if that is the only build you have until 24 September 2026.
How a terminal actually works
Walk up to a glowing CRT or a wall panel and press Use. Reloaded’s modern UI still drops you into a DOS-style prompt: a short command list, a cursor, Return to execute. You are not in a minigame with QTE rings. You are typing (or selecting) a command JC already hinted at over radio.
Typical jobs:
- Unlock a security door or elevator that the map will not open with a keycard alone
- Cycle cameras so you can see a courtyard before you walk into it
- Cut alarms so the next room does not spawn a full squad
- Dump an ATM or a payroll terminal for cash that buys nothing in Reloaded’s campaign but still counts as interactivity
- Trigger a scripted event: flood a room, drop a lift, abort a launch sequence
If the prompt offers a command with a question mark in old FAQs, treat it as unverified. Reloaded restored unused voice lines; it did not promise every 1998 console cheat as a legal terminal verb. Cheats like god and wuss are a different layer. Do not type those expecting a story beat. Use the in-world list JC mentions.
Cameras, elevators, and JC
Cameras are not spectator toys. A security booth terminal can show you the next atrium so you spend Magnum ammo on the guy with the rocket, not the civilian. Reloaded’s peace-sign / friendly marker — confirmed in the Gamescom hands-on — sits on people you should not hose. Combine that with a camera peek and the helicopter turret intro stops being a guess.
Elevators are vehicles with a button. Some only move after a terminal acknowledges your keycard. Some dump you into a different floor if you take too long. That is the same fail-forward logic as the missile silo: the map continues, it just becomes a worse map. Details live on secrets.
JC is the reason hacking feels like a conversation. He tells you which net is live. He yells when you are standing on the wrong side of a shutter. Reloaded found extra voice samples and plays them in more places, so a veteran Gold run will hear lines that were cut in 1998. Listen once. If he repeats a command name, that is the string the prompt wants.
What Reloaded changed
Nightdive’s producer Grover Wimberly IV used Freeport City Bank as the example: a key on a desk looked like furniture. Reloaded puts exclamation marks / points of interest on those objects. Terminals that used to blend into beige office geometry now ping. If you are stuck, stop spraying walls and scan desks, booths, and the glowing CRTs.
Silo and Chem were overhauled so the old 90s jank — backtracking to a panel you could not see — hurts less. Episode 5 is more linear. The prompt still exists. The hunt for the prompt is shorter. Pair that with what’s new if you are coming from Gold.

How this ties to combat and vehicles
A hacked camera is scouting. A hacked door is a flank. You still have to shoot the room. Locational armor and knock-away guns are on combat. If the terminal opens a garage, the vehicles page covers the forklift, boat, and helicopter that wait on the other side.
Ammo economy still matters. Do not dump the chaingun into a locked shutter. Use the prompt. Then dump the chaingun into the people the shutter was hiding.
Common failure modes
- You shot the terminal. Some panels break. Reload the last named save from getting started habits.
- You ignored JC and ran. The fail-forward path is real; you will not get a game over, you will get sewers.
- You treated ATM commands as a shop. There is no loadout kiosk. Cash is set dressing. Kits live on loadouts.
- You tried to hack in the demo and expected Bank commands. The trial is silo / Paradox. Different prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do I type real DOS commands?
You get a short in-world list. Execute what JC names. Reloaded is not a typing tutor and it is not the 1998 cheat console.
What if I cannot find the terminal?
Look for Reloaded's point-of-interest ping on desks and booths. Then open secrets if a timer already moved you to a worse map.
Can I hack in multiplayer?
The campaign terminals are single-player toys. Deathmatch and CTF rules sit on multiplayer.
Does the Steam demo include hacking?
The silo slice can show a security hub. It is not the Bank tutorial. See the demo guide.
Are ATMs useful?
They are interactivity, not a shop. Spend time on doors and cameras instead of farming cash.
